After starting my first desk job, I realized how easy and fast you can become out of shape just by sitting down all day. I played basketball almost daily but after 8 hours of sitting in front a computer all day, I just didn't have the energy. As soon as I realized my stomach was starting to become a gut, I knew I had to make a change.
I found Colin online and we met the following day. I told him I wanted to get back into basketball shape with plyometrics training but my schedule wasn't that great. Not only did Colin put together a personalized program for me, but he worked around my schedule. He gave my tips on what to eat, he encouraged me to play numerous times per week, and even helped improve my technique when it came to running and jumping.
The sessions with Colin we're intense! Squats, deadlifts, & box jumps were just a few out of the many exercises we did. Each session was harder than the last but with that came results. My physique was improving, I was jumping higher, and I could tell my stamina was increasing. Even outside of the gym, I was waking up early with no problem, I consistently ate healthier, and I was feeling more alive!
Colin knows fitness, inside and out. It actually was shocking at times, I could point to any part of my body thats sore and he'd have a stretch for it that would make it feel as good as new. He also carefully watched to make sure I wasn't overworking any areas, he keeps a close eye when it comes to preventing injuries.
The end result of my personalized training with Colin led me to develop the best physique I've ever had & helped me get back to where I used to be in basketball...above the rim!

After transferring duty stations this past February, my husband and I found West Coast Strength and Conditioning and Colin. Colin has been wonderful!
In the beginning, he sat down with us and asked us our goals, our strengths, and everything in between. He gave us programming to work on throughout the week when we couldn’t make it to the gym and then gave us semi-privates once a week to work on our form. I have gone from being afraid of any semi-complex motion with the barbell to being excited when I see power cleans in a workout. I used to be scared to lift anything greater than 115lb in a deadlift and now I can deadlift over 250lb!
He’s given me the confidence in the motions and a renewed motivation to try everything new there is to fitness. Not to mention, the first day I walked into WCSC I was about 9 weeks pregnant. I was afraid to tell him at first because so many fitness places have a hands-off approach to pregnancy, but not Colin. He has worked with me every step of the way through my pregnancy and with only about 10 weeks until my due date I’d like to believe CrossFit and Colin’s coaching have truly helped me to have a very healthy, low-risk pregnancy.

Coach Colin has been programming for me personally for the last 18 months, and I must say that I most definitely would not be where I am today, both as a person and an athlete, if it were not for his programming. I originally began individual programming with Colin when I decided that I wanted to qualify for the 2010 Southwest Regionals. Not only did I meet my goal of qualifying for Regionals, but along the way I became a stronger athlete by the meticulous attention to detail which Colin always paid when he programmed for me. In training for regionals I hit numerous PRs, two of the most notable were a 2x body weight deadlift and my first muscle-up.
After the 2010 Games season, my life changed substantially when I moved to Afghanistan to teach English. Though I thought it may not be possible to continue training under tough circumstances, Colin used creativity to continue pushing me to be a better crosfitter. Dealing with lack of equipment, no other people to train with, and constantly changing environmental factors, I was still able to qualify for, and compete in the 2011 Asia Regionals. In addition to helping me stay at a competitive level while living alone in a country at war, Colin's programming also allowed me to hit many other milestones including a squat snatch PR, mastering pistols, and being able to do hand stand push-ups. As a coach, Colin Jenkins is definitely one of the most knowledgable and qualified individuals I have worked with. He evaluates the individual athlete and designs a program to address and improve upon weaknesses and achieve specific goals. Each cycle is deliberately and thoughtfully planned; results are analyzed; and the next step is determined. During training sessions, Colin provides incisive and helpful cues, and the feedback he provides post-session is both inspiring and instructional.
In the 6 months that Colin has been programming for me, I've achieved some dramatic pr's ranging from a 6 second decrease in my 400m run time, a 20# increase in my split jerk, and a 25 second pr on "Fran".
